A SOC 2 Type 1 report confirms that your controls are suitably designed as of a specific date. A Type 2 report goes a step further, assessing whether those controls also functioned effectively over an audit period, typically six to twelve months. Type 1 is suitable as a starting point if you need verification on short notice or are undergoing a SOC 2 process for the first time. Type 2 is the report that enterprise clients, corporations, and investors generally expect as robust proof. We will work with you to determine which version is right for you based on your client requirements and your current level of maturity.
Yes. If you already hold ISO 27001, BSI C5, TISAX, IDW PS 951, or comparable certifications, we map your existing controls to the relevant SOC 2 Trust Services Criteria. Previously documented policies, risk analyses, and technical measures are incorporated into the audit, so you don't have to duplicate your efforts. This significantly reduces internal workload and shortens preparation time. During the scoping meeting, we will identify together which existing evidence can be utilized and where additional work is actually required.
The Security criteria category is a mandatory component of every SOC 2 report. You select the additional criteria—Availability, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality, and Privacy—based on your business model and your clients' expectations. Cloud and SaaS providers often include Availability and Confidentiality; if you process your clients' personal data, Privacy becomes relevant. We assist you during the scoping phase to choose the right configuration—broad enough to meet client requirements, yet lean enough to keep the audit effort manageable.
SOC 2 reports are prepared based on AICPA standards and are an internationally established benchmark for control and security verification. Nevertheless, individual clients or industries may insist on specific criteria, reporting formats, or supplementary evidence. We will clarify the specific requirements of your key clients with you at the outset and align the scope, Trust Services Criteria, and reporting format accordingly. This ensures your report reaches its intended destination—your clients' trust centers—rather than getting stuck in a loop of follow-up questions.
